Bayelsa Local Government Allocations What July’s ₦7.75 billion Means

Eight council figures sit behind Bayelsa’s combined July allocation. Each represents a separate set of decisions that residents should be able to examine.
The July 2026 Bayelsa local government allocations total approximately ₦7.75 billion, according to Newsivic’s compilation of official net allocation tables. The figures cover 8 local governments. They represent the councils’ combined allocation, not a separate allocation to the state government.
These are July disbursements only, covering June revenue shared in July. They are not cumulative receipts for 2026.
What the council figures show
Southern Ijaw has the largest recorded allocation at approximately ₦1.17 billion. At the other end, Kolokuma/Opokuma records approximately ₦764.60 million. The difference is about ₦402.75 million.
Together, Southern Ijaw, Yenagoa and Ekermor account for 43.0% of this group’s July net allocation. That is a share of funding, not a performance ranking.
A short council list makes a useful starting point for shared scrutiny. However, compare documented responsibilities and costs before judging whether one council delivered better value than another.

Ask for the receipt and spending records
First, ask officials what the council actually received and when it arrived. The allocation table does not independently confirm a bank credit. Any difference between the published figure and actual receipts needs an explanation.
Next, request salaries, operating costs, project payments and the closing balance. For a project payment, ask who received it, what it covered and what work remains. Existing obligations may explain spending, but officials should support the explanation with records.
Check the response against dated documents and observations. Recognise completed work. Where a question remains unanswered, describe the missing information without presenting suspicion as proof of theft.
Bayelsa residents can start with one request
Bayelsa residents, share the figures for all eight councils. Ask your own officials what they received and which results they can demonstrate with records.
Use the Bayelsa local government allocations table to name the council and amount in your request. Ask for receipts, major payments and project progress. Keep a copy of the question and the reply.
Comment with your council’s name and the spending question you want answered. Send Newsivic dates, locations, clear photographs, supporting documents and any official response. Share this article with your community association and invite others to follow up.
